The person behind the stays
Paul Walker-Dendle
Founder & CEO, World Wide Apartments
Paul has spent five decades in travel and aviation, building and selling six travel companies along the way: Avro Plc, ChoiceAir, Farebase, Traveloptions, Skyvalue and Eurojet.
He founded Avro in 1984 with two desks, two people and four phones, and grew it into a business turning over £140 million and flying 1.25 million passengers a year, at times accounting for as much as half of Gatwick’s departures in the early 1990s. An early forerunner of no-frills flying in the UK, Avro was sold to the Monarch Airlines group.
World Wide Apartments, launched in 2022, is his latest venture, and the same playbook applies: negotiate the best rates directly with homeowners and residences, keep a small margin, and let growing volume win better prices that get passed straight on to the guest. Every booking is protected by the company’s money-in-trust model, with payment released to the property only when you travel.
Paul writes the travel guides on this site himself, from the beaches worth the drive to the months worth booking early.
